Topic: The Ethics of Technical Innovation

Presenter: Chris Mitchell, VP: Government Relations at IPC

Description: Philosophers have long studied man’s relationship to technology, but this field of study has taken on greater urgency and significance as the nature of technology has become more sophisticated and its implications for society more potent and conflicting. This webinar will highlight some of the fundamental questions that spur philosophers to study technology as well as the ethical decision-making frameworks that help individuals and communities evaluate technology’s societal affects. Understanding these ethical approaches can inform the way we interact with technology and further the goal of asserting our control over technological advancement and adoption instead of surrendering to them. The webinar will touch on these ethical questions in the context of governmental policy.
