Overview

The IPC Education Foundation recognizes educators and instructors who enrich the lives of students interested in a career path in the electronics industry. These scholarships support professional and technical development. Scholarship funds can be used towards costs associated with industry-related on-line courses, seminars, workshops or conferences, and other educational enrichment purposes, as needed and approved by the IPC Education Foundation.

2023 IPC Michael V. Carano Teacher Excellence Award Winner

Name: Dan White

Title: Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

University: Valparaiso University

Bio: Dan White is at home at the nexus of education, electronics, radio, and software. He most frequently teaches courses in electronics, semiconductors, circuits, power electronics, and information theory. Hands-on projects form a significant part of his courses in matching how a course's concepts show up in real and measurable behavior. He directs the Wireless Research and Electronic Discovery (!WIRED) Lab at Valparaiso University where students work on space, internet-of-things, and embedded systems projects. Additionally, he is a founding member of the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) education committee and a core contributor with the Libre Space Foundation.

Personal Statement: “It is an honor to be nominated for and awarded the Michael Carano Teacher Excellence Award. Student learning development by any means possible is at the core of my teaching strategy. IPC helps provide extra opportunities for learning about and engaging with the electronics industry and I'm happy to help bring that experience to my students as the chapter advisor.”
